Saith the Lord: yet I loved Jacob
(Malachi 1:2)
Mommy's miracle, Daddy's dream
You've finally come at last.
To your waiting family it surely seemed
The time would never pass.
But while we waited, fretted and prayed
For this miracle sublime,
You snuggled into Mommy's womb
And took your own sweet time.
As you nestled beneath your Mother's heart,
No safer haven to find,
We waited in hushed expectancy.
Yet you were quite resigned
To bide your time and make us wait
Til you were quite prepared
To join your expectant family,
Looking none the worse for wear
With flawless features and angelic face
From which the message beams:
You cannot rush the work of God -
Good things take time it seems.
In a world where children cry alone
From want and from distress,
You, my child could not have known
How you are truly blessed.
No child could have been yearned for more
By two more loving parents.
You've been born of true love, therefore,
I offer you this guidance.
Where you see a child of God alone,
In want or in distress,
Offer them the love you've known
And they will feel as blessed.
For your parents' patience, love and faith
Gave us you - a gift of grace
And you will feel that love and make
The world a better place.
